Dirt is a immensely abundant block on natural maps. It is often the first few layers of blocks below Grass and 3 - 4 layers above Stone. It is the second most common block. When adjacent to a Grass block and receiving sunlight, it can turn into Grass itself. Grass and Dirt changing between each other is a common cause of chunk updates.

Dirt cannot be crafted into anything. However, using a Hoe, it can be turned into Farmland; if near Water.
